Benfica are weighing a trim on the right of defence, with Marco Silva holding three options and the club may consider a sale.
According to Glorioso 1904, the trio are Amar Dedic, Alexander Bah and Daniel Banjaqui, who already has a first-team place secured for 2026/27.
Banjaqui, a Portugal under-17 world champion, prompts fresh thinking in the role. The hierarchy would be open to negotiating one of the more experienced right-backs if a suitable proposal arrives.
Dedic remains one of the squad’s most valuable assets. Signed from Salzburg last summer for about 10 million euros, the Bosnian international quickly became first choice and drew interest across Europe, notably from the Bundesliga.
His World Cup involvement could further boost his value. He started and completed 90 minutes against Canada in the opening group match.
Bah’s situation differs. The Denmark international only returned in February after more than a year out with a serious left knee injury. Bought in 2024 for around 9 million euros and contracted until June 2029, an exit for Bah is viewed internally as more plausible than a Dedic departure.
With Banjaqui stepping up, Duarte Soares is the leading candidate for greater responsibility with the B team. The 19-year-old has already made three appearances under Nélson Veríssimo and ended last season strongly across the under-23s and juniors.
