Leeds United’s hopes of finally landing Harry Wilson appear over after Marco Silva signalled he wants to keep the in-form Wales international and push for a new deal.
According to Leeds Live, Leeds targeted the Fulham winger last summer to bolster Daniel Farke’s attack, and a move looked likely before it collapsed late in the window, since when Wilson has become one of Silva’s most effective players.
The 28-year-old is out of contract in five months and has seven goals and four assists this season, with 10 goal contributions since November, and he was instrumental in the midweek 2-1 win over Chelsea.
Against Chelsea, he drew the foul from Marc Cucurella that brought a red card, saw a finish ruled out for Raul Jimenez being offside, then struck the winner with nine minutes remaining.
Silva said he had no regrets over past selection, stressing Wilson has been involved in almost every game, sometimes from the bench, sometimes from the start, and that he rejected Leeds’ approach at the time.
He accepted it is the final year of Wilson’s deal, added that transfer value is not his concern, and said Fulham should try to extend his contract and enjoy a key player in the meantime.
