João Palhinha remains a priority for Marco Silva, who views the Portugal international as the ideal figure to lead Benfica’s engine room. Benfica are ready to make a significant push to land him this window.
According to Glorioso 1904, the pursuit is still at an early stage. Palhinha has been told of Benfica’s interest, yet he is weighing several offers before deciding on his next move.
Silva could prove decisive, having worked with the player for two seasons at Fulham and forged a close bond. He has outlined the prominence Palhinha would hold in his Benfica project and is prepared to hand him a leading role.
The structure led by Rui Costa is exploring different formulas for a deal. Bayern Munich still value the midfielder at 20 to 25 million euros, while Benfica favour a loan with an option to buy. There is also openness to offer him around three million euros net per season.
Any move depends on several factors, starting with the player’s decision and the club’s need to manage resources carefully. A permanent fee could force compromises on other reinforcements, with sales also on the agenda to balance the books. Even so, the club believes Palhinha is a special target and is prepared to wait for his answer.
