Marcus Rashford proved why he has been one of the most underrated players for Barcelona this season after delivering a brilliant performance in the title-clinching victory over Real Madrid.
On a historic night at a packed and emotional Spotify Camp Nou, Rashford opened the scoring with a stunning free-kick as Barcelona secured their second consecutive La Liga title in unforgettable fashion.
The English forward was one of the standout performers in El Clasico and later spoke openly about both his future and his growing connection with the club.
Rashford, who joined Barcelona on loan from Manchester United earlier this season, admitted after the match that he would love to continue playing for the Catalan giants.
Although he stopped short of confirming anything, his comments will undoubtedly excite the fans hoping the club can secure his stay beyond this campaign.
“I don’t know if I’m going to stay. I am not a magician, but if I were, I’d stay so we will see,” he told the BBC.
Rashford’s spectacular goal became one of the defining moments of Barcelona’s title-winning night and may already be remembered as one of the club’s best goals of the season.
Interestingly, the England international revealed after the game that he was not even planning to take the free-kick initially. “The free-kick? I wasn’t going to take it.
“I couldn’t see the angle and didn’t know where to shoot, but then everyone told me to take the free-kick and that encouraged me and gave me confidence. In the end, it was a great goal.”
Beyond his goal, Rashford has enjoyed an outstanding campaign in Spain, registering 14 goals and 12 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions.
More importantly, Rashford appears fully convinced by the long-term direction of the Barcelona project and made it clear he believes the current squad is capable of achieving even greater success in the future.
“I came to Barcelona to win and my intention is to keep winning.
“The team is incredible. This team is going to win a lot of things in the future and being part of that would be very special. We’ll see,” he concluded.
