Mason Greenwood has left Marseille for Fenerbahce after two seasons, with the club saying in a statement that the decision was mutually agreed.

The 24-year-old makes a permanent move to Istanbul after a productive spell that began in summer 2024.

Greenwood hit 22 goals and six assists in 36 games in his first campaign, helping Marseille finish second and reach the Champions League. He then produced 26 goals and 11 assists across 45 matches in 2025-26.

He was among five finalists for the UNFP Player of the Season. Despite reported disciplinary issues and tension with former sporting director Medhi Benatia, Marseille opted to cash in while his value was high.

Atletico Madrid were believed to be leading the race as they eyed a long-term successor to Antoine Griezmann, but talks collapsed when the club reportedly felt disrespected by poor communication from the player's camp. Fenerbahce capitalised to close the deal.

The fee is €39m, payable in equal instalments over three years, and Greenwood has signed a four-year contract. He expressed delight at the move, calling it a straightforward choice and describing Fenerbahce as the biggest club in Türkiye.
