Corinthians beat Vasco da Gama 1-0 at Neo Química Arena on Sunday, the sixth match of Fernando Diniz’s tenure and a sixth straight clean sheet. Matheus Bidu scored the winner.
According to Meu Timao, the full-back credited Diniz’s early work for sharpening the defence, arguing that conceding fewer goals brings security and lets the likes of Garro, Yuri and Lingard make the difference.
In Dorival Júnior’s last 10 matches in charge of Corinthians, only one ended without conceding, a 0-0 draw with Chapecoense in the interior of Santa Catarina.
Diniz’s sequence has also set a club first, no previous Corinthians coach had gone the opening six matches without conceding.
Since Diniz arrived, Bidu has started five times and was on the bench only for the 1-0 win over Barra in the Copa do Brasil.
With Bidu available, Corinthians face Peñarol on Thursday, 30 April, at 21:00 in the third round of the Copa Libertadores group stage, at Neo Química Arena.
