Matt Doherty has left Wolves at the end of his contract, concluding a 13-year two-spell stay after 389 appearances.

In a club statement, technical director Matt Jackson praised the 34-year-old as a Wolverhampton Wanderers man, highlighting his leadership, growth from teenager to senior figure, and wishing him well for the future.

The Irish full-back becomes a free agent and departs as the club’s 16th-highest appearance maker, with Wolves describing him as a club legend.

Doherty joined in 2010 and established himself under Kenny Jackett during the 2013/14 League One promotion season.

He was integral under Nuno Espirito Santo as Wolves returned to the Premier League, recorded two seventh-placed finishes, and reached the FA Cup semi-final and Europa League quarter-final.

He moved to Spurs in 2020, had a short spell at Atletico Madrid, then re-signed for Wolves in 2023.
