Wolves announced that Matt Doherty will leave this summer when his contract expires, and described him as a club legend. The 34-year-old has made 389 appearances across two spells over 13 years, ranking 16th on the club’s all-time list. The Irishman becomes a free agent after being offered no new deal.
Doherty joined in 2010 and broke through under Kenny Jackett, helping secure promotion from League One in 2013/14.
He was a key figure under Nuno Espirito Santo as Wolves returned to the Premier League and recorded two seventh-place finishes. That period also brought an FA Cup semi-final and a Europa League quarter-final.
He departed for Spurs in 2020, then had a brief spell with Atletico Madrid before returning to Molineux in 2023.
Doherty now leaves Wolves for the final time and will be available on a free.
