Matthias Jaissle has reportedly emerged as the frontrunner to succeed Eddie Howe, who is set to leave Newcastle United.

According to BuLi News, Newcastle are in advanced talks with Al-Ahli to appoint the 38-year-old as head coach.

Jaissle is expected to leave Al-Ahli if an agreement is reached between the clubs.

He is understood to be keen on the role, and personal terms are not expected to be a problem.

He began his coaching career in RB Leipzig’s youth system, then became RB Salzburg head coach in 2021.

Jaissle moved to Al-Ahli in the summer of 2023.
