Mbappe responds to claim that current France team is country’s best ever | OneFootball

Kylian Mbappe says this France side still have a lot to prove before they can be considered the strongest French team of all time.

Mbappe scored his eighth goal of this World Cup to help his side into the semi-finals of the competiting after beating Morocco 2-0.

But he insists this current French team still have a lot left to achieve before they can be considered among the greatest ever France teams.

“It’s not the strongest team,” he said. “I’ve been world champion and I’ve been runner-up (in a World Cup final). This team is neither world champion nor runner-up. So, as things stand, it’s not the strongest.

“It’s the one with the most potential, the one we can most easily envisage a future with, one with so much quality and it’s letting us dream, of course. But as for the strongest? I’ve always said that the strongest teams are the ones that win, and until proven otherwise, I don’t see a gold trophy sitting next to me, so it isn’t the strongest team.

“We have quality players, but we play as a team; we’re a collective, a united group, always moving in the same direction, and the direction we want to go in is winning.”
