Meerdink and Oufkir seal comeback as visitors go top | OneFootball

AZ beat Heerenveen 3-2 at the Abe Lenstra Stadion to make it five wins from five and climb from second to first in the Eredivisie.

In the seventh minute Ro Daal swept AZ ahead from the left side after Wouter Goes picked him out. Nolhan Courtens levelled for Heerenveen with a tidy finish (21.), before Ringo Meerveld struck from outside the box to turn the game around (30.).

After the restart Leeroy Echteld's side introduced Calvin Stengs and Mees de Wit, and the momentum shifted. Valdemar Byskov came on and promptly fed Mexx Meerdink, who rifled in the equaliser from range (69.).

Ayoub Oufkir arrived late from the bench and needed one touch to decide it, steering in high from Mexx Meerdink's pass on a fast break (83.).

There was a brief stoppage for an injury to Dirk Proper, who was replaced by Levi Smans shortly after.

AZ posed the greater threat, registering eight shots on target from 15 attempts. Heerenveen produced 14 attempts and worked Jari de Busser five times.
