Mestalla could sway Guido’s Valencia future as Celta de Vigo visit today, with attention on the pitch and in the stands.
According to Superdeporte, two weeks ago Kiat Lim, Ron Gourlay and Carlos Corberán underlined in person that renewing the Argentine is a priority, alongside appointing a sporting director. The trio set an immediate target of filling that role to speed decisions for 2026/27.
Top of the club’s to-do list is keeping Guido. Valencia have begun work on the operation, although no formal offer emerged from that meeting. They want him to remain next season as a pillar, but it will not be simple.
He must be convinced by a serious sporting plan and pay befitting his role and international status. His renewal also depends on outside proposals, with interest not only in Europe but from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and South America.
Corberán’s continuity helps, having championed his signing and built strong chemistry. In his press conference he highlighted the midfielder’s experience and leadership.
The city and Mestalla are factors too, with the club believing his bond with the crowd could weigh in his decision. A fan poll shows 99% want him in 2026/27, with 2372 of 2406 voting yes.
"I would like to stay and I know the club would too. We have to talk and take our time, there are many things in signings and planning. The important thing is that the club are happy with me and I am happy with the club," he told El Desmarque.
His off-field gestures point the same way. He and his family are enjoying the city, and he recently hosted a squad asado at Paterna.
