Watford have announced the signing of former West Ham striker Michail Antonio on a free transfer.

The 36-year-old has signed a one-year deal after spending the past month training with Alessio Dionisi’s side. He is awaiting international clearance and could make his debut against Stoke City on Saturday.

Antonio has not played senior football in England since December 2024, when he suffered a broken leg in a car accident four days after his final appearance for West Ham. He was released by the Hammers in June 2025 after a decade at the club, during which he became their all-time Premier League top scorer with 68 goals.

He later trained with West Ham during his rehabilitation and made two appearances for their Under-21s before joining Qatari side Al-Sailiya, where he made four appearances.

Antonio, who will wear the number 18 shirt, is Watford’s 12th signing of the summer. The Hornets are currently 12th in the Championship, with two wins, two draws and two defeats from their opening six matches.
