Mika Godts rested by Ajax amid PSG interest in final pre-season match | OneFootball

Mika Godts did not feature in Ajax’s final pre-season friendly on Sunday, with his absence chiefly down to head coach Michel’s squad management. According to L'Équipe, the Belgian winger is being courted by PSG and has an agreement in principle with the club.

He was one of five starters from Thursday’s Europa League tie to be rested. Daley Blind stayed on the bench, while several other regulars played between 15 and 30 minutes.

Ajax have been juggling their summer build-up with Europa League qualifiers. They beat Vojvodina 4-1 on Thursday to reach the third round, after winning the first leg by the same score. Godts started both matches and supplied an assist in each.

Despite the rotation, Ajax defeated Volendam 3-1, with new signings Marcos Leonardo and Tolu Arokodare among the scorers.

They host Shelbourne on Thursday at 20:00 before beginning their Eredivisie season away to Zwolle a week later. Those fixtures could provide clearer indications over Godts’ future.
