Manchester United have a big clash with Liverpool looming.
Of course, the Red Devils must first take care of Brentford on Monday night, but after that, they have their pride to defend as Liverpool come to Old Trafford.
The Reds, having taken care of Crystal Palace, are already just waiting for that game, a game that might decide whether United or Liverpool finish third.
When the two met at Anfield, it was the Red Devils who came out on top, nicking a 2-1 win.
This will be a completely different game, with 90 minutes still to be played. With both sides in decent form, this will be a tricky affair.
It will be a game of fine margins. Notably, United may get a boost with Patrick Dorgu’s return.
Liverpool, for their part, have something to worry about. They may not only be without Hugo Ekitike for this game but also without Mohamed Salah.
In Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Crystal Palace, Salah was forced off with a hamstring injury.
The prolific winger is expected to finally leave Liverpool in the summer, and with this injury, it is now being suggested he may have played his final game for the club.
That said, the “has played last game for Liverpool” claims have been echoed by Egypt national team doctor Ibrahim Hassan.
Hassan told Reuters: “He has suffered a hamstring tear and will require four weeks of treatment.”
Salah may not have been at his best of late, but his absence from this clash would be a massive boost for United.
In 18 games against them, the 33-year-old has scored 16 goals and registered six assists. He lives and breathes to torment United, who are the Premier League side he has scored most against.
So, without the injured Ekitike and now Salah, Liverpool head into this game at a disadvantage. Hopefully, United take full advantage and complete a league double over the English champions.
