AS Monaco have parted company with head coach Sébastien Pocognoli. The club announced on Monday night that his contract had been ended.

The Ligue 1 coaching carousel continues, with Bruno Genesio leaving Lille, Olivier Pantaloni departing Lorient and Carles Martinez Novell moving on from Toulouse before Monaco’s change.

Aged 38, the Belgian was under contract until June 2027, but a poor finish left Monaco seventh, well short of a Champions League place, the club’s initial target.

Pocognoli arrived on 11 October 2025 from Union Saint-Gilloise to replace Adi Hütter, and oversaw 38 matches, 16 wins, 9 draws and 13 defeats, including 10 in the league.

He leaves with assistants Kevin Mirallas and Artur Kopyt. Three other staff were not retained, French assistant Damien Perrinelle, Belgian goalkeeping coach Frédéric de Boever and Hungarian set-piece coach Abel Lorincz.

With Pocognoli’s departure confirmed, Monaco are expected to announce Brazilian coach Filipe Luis, a free agent since leaving Flamengo in March, where he won five trophies, including the Copa Libertadores and the 2025 Brazilian title.
