Monaco are rebuilding after missing out on the Champions League last season, reshaped on and off the pitch.

According to L'Équipe, the DNCG has capped the wage bill and, despite selling Maghnes Akliouche to PSG for €50m and Aladji Bamba to Newcastle for €41.5m, Monaco still need sales, with Folarin Balogun a candidate to leave.

General director Thiago Scuro has backed Filipe Luis, taking his first European job after Flamengo, to lead a Champions League push. Paul Pogba is likely to be absent as injuries persist, which could prompt Monaco to seek an exit.

Nazinho, 23, arrives for about €5m from satellite club Cercle Bruges to replace Caio Henrique, who joined Ajax for €11m plus €3m. Used in a back four, he can also play wing-back and was the Belgian league's most booked last season with 13 yellows in 30 games.

This will be Monaco's 10th European campaign since their 2013 promotion, and their first in the Conference League, with a play-off across 20-27 August.

The opening Ligue 1 fixtures are Le Havre v Monaco on Sunday 23 August at 17:15, Monaco v Marseille on Sunday 30 August at 20:45, then PSG v Monaco on Friday 4 September at 21:05.

Home crowds averaged 8,120 last season, the league's lowest, with a 66% fill rate, and Stade Louis-II will be under renovation for much of this campaign.
