There has been a degree of mystery surrounding Paul Pogba (32) in recent weeks. His return was highly anticipated, but following three brief cameo appearances off the bench, he has once again gone off the radar.
He has played just over 30 minutes of football since joining AS Monaco in the summer, and he has not played a single minute since suffering a calf injury at the start of December. He has not even returned to first-team training and when questioned on the topic, neither manager Sébastien Pocognoli nor CEO Thiago Scuro have been able to provide any kind of return date.
That has now changed. Speaking ahead of Monaco’s UEFA Champions League play-off second-leg against Paris Saint-Germain, Pocognoli said that “it is becoming a bit clearer” regarding Pogba.
The Belgian then added. “We hope to see him in training with us again before the international break (end of March). And then we will build something positive during this period. That is what is planned and we hope that we will manage to keep to that. He is focused […] everyone has a plan and his is well defined,” he said in a press conference attended by Get French Football News. Perhaps, therefore, a return in April could be on the cards for the former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder.
