Jose Mourinho will arrive in Madrid tomorrow to officially begin work on his new project as Real Madrid manager, reports MARCA.

The Portuguese coach has brought his summer vacation to an end and is returning to the Spanish capital to prepare for a season in which the club is expected to challenge for every major trophy.

Although Mourinho has taken time to rest over the past few weeks, he has remained closely involved in Real Madrid’s sporting planning throughout the summer.

He has monitored every move made by the club and returns to Madrid with a clear vision and the determination to begin work immediately.

Final preparations before pre-season

Mourinho will spend the weekend in Madrid, using the time to visit the club’s training facilities and ensure everything is in place before pre-season officially begins on Monday, July 13.

The opening phase of pre-season will take place without the players still involved in the World Cup, who will report later after completing their mandatory rest periods.

Even so, Mourinho wants to maximise every training session as he begins building the team according to his ideas.

The Portuguese manager now faces an important month as he works to shape the squad and create a group capable of competing from the opening weeks of the campaign.

That objective was one of the main reasons behind his return to Real Madrid: to restore the club’s ability to compete for every title and recover the competitive identity that has long defined Mourinho’s teams.

Building the squad

One of Mourinho’s first priorities will be deciding the futures of several players whose positions remain uncertain.

The coach wants to personally assess young talents such as Gonzalo Garcia, Franco Mastantuono, and Thiago Pitarch before making any final decisions.

His plan is to observe them closely in training, evaluate their current level, understand their individual situations, and only then determine what is best for both the players and the club.

Mourinho also wants to begin strengthening the team’s unity from the very first day of preseason.

He believes restoring confidence, rebuilding togetherness within the dressing room, and putting last season’s disappointments behind the squad will be essential.

The Portuguese coach returns full of energy and intends to build a strong collective spirit that can eventually be reflected in the team’s performances on the pitch.

More business expected

At present, Real Madrid have completed the signings of Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, and Bernardo Silva. Despite the arrivals already completed, the squad is not yet finalised.

Mourinho knows that additional departures still need to be resolved. Fran Garcia and Dani Ceballos have already left the club, but further exits are expected before the transfer window closes.

At the same time, the manager hopes Real Madrid will complete the signing of one or two more reinforcements to round out the squad.

The coming weeks are therefore expected to be decisive, both on the training ground and in the club’s offices, as Real Madrid continue shaping Mourinho’s first team for the new season.
