‘My hero’ – Kylian Mbappé explains Cristiano Ronaldo-Real Madrid tribute | OneFootball

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé has provided an insight into the reasoning behind his Cristiano Ronaldo tribute on Saturday evening.

Frontman Mbappé of course grabbed the headlines across Spain once more last night.

This came upon the Frenchman securing for himself a piece of all-time Real Madrid history.

After rounding out the scoring in a 2-0 Blancos victory over Sevilla, Mbappé equalled Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of most goals for a Real Madrid player in a single calendar year (59).

Well aware of as much, the 27-year-old, after wheeling away towards the corner flag, recreated the iconic ‘SIUUU’ celebration made famous by CR7.

Speaking to the media post-match, Mbappé was therefore drawn on his call to opt for Ronaldo’s celebration, over his own.

And the former PSG standout went on to explain:

“Ronaldo celebration? My celebration was dedicated to him, he’s my friend and my hero.

“Cristiano helped me adapt to Real Madrid. We talked a lot. It was nice. I have my own celebration, but I wanted to dedicate this to him.”
