In a dire international week bereft of content (thank you very much Marc Cucurella for your comments which gave us something to talk about), Kieran Gill of the Daily Mail noticed something in the football agents payment documents released today.
Chelsea registered an “updated contract” with Mykhailo Mudryk, who hasn’t played since November 2024 after failing a doping test. It’s all part of the Blues’ absurd £65m spending on intermediaries over the last two windows.
The winger is hardly getting a raise as he reaches the 18 month mark of his ban. In fact for a while it looked like his contract might be cancelled entirely. We can only imagine this is some accounting measure to make things easier for the club. Perhaps they’ve reached some kind of compromise to avoid them having to go to court over a breach of contract.
It’s a tantalising mystery… Gill calls it “intriguing”, and we’d have to agree. The whole Mudyrk story is truly fascinating, and this is just another layer to it.
Another thing Gill noted was how Cole Palmer was taking corners for England but not for Chelsea, something which might be worth trying.
Jon Obi Mikel has been laying into the Chelsea ownership this week, blaming one big decision they made for the current disaster.
