Napoli growing uncomfortable about Scott McTominay’s contract renewal | OneFootball

Serie A side Napoli will miss Scott McTominay for the next few weeks as he has undergone heart surgery. But the club is concerned about the midfielder’s long-term stay at the Partenopei.

Previously, progress hasn’t been made over contract talks for the ex-Manchester United player. The player himself cast doubts about the new deal last week, saying that he doesn’t know if he will renew or not.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Napoli are concerned about a Khvicha Kvaratskhelia repeat even in McTominay’s case.

The Scotland man is keen on earning a package worth €7 million per season to sign a new deal until 2030. He believes he deserves the amount but his comments about uncertainty in Naples has come as a shock at Napoli, especially as sporting director Giovanni Manna was also asked about the situation.

They fear the player could depart prematurely, just like Kvaratskhelia did. Even in the Georgian’s case, many meetings were held with his entourage but no agreement was reached, attracting the attention of clubs in England and PSG. 

The same could transpire in this case, unless Napoli act and hand him the money he richly deserves.
