A chaotic night in National saw leaders Dijon, Sochaux and Rouen all lose on matchday 28, opening up the fight for third. L'Équipe notes the promotion chase has tightened as Le Puy, Fleury and Versailles all won.
Dijon, still top, were beaten 3-1 at surprise promoted side Fleury, the only team to have defeated them in October’s reverse fixture. Lenny Lacroix put the visitors ahead on five minutes from a corner, but Fleury struck twice late in the first half.
Goalkeeper Paul Delecroix was sent off on 52 minutes and Dijon conceded a third late on. There was a second goalkeeper on the bench this time.
Second-placed Sochaux slipped 1-0 to Versailles at the Camp des Loges, conceding from a corner around the hour. It was their first defeat since November.
Rouen, third, lost 2-1 at Villefranche and are three matches without a win.
Despite those results, the top three remain in the same order, with Dijon one point ahead of Sochaux and five clear of Rouen. The gap behind Rouen has narrowed, with Fleury, Versailles and Le Puy-en-Velay now three points back, Le Puy winning 3-0 at Concarneau for a fourth straight victory. Orléans, without a game, are one point further behind that trio, so five teams are covered by four points, and Rouen have played one match more than their rivals.
