Neuer changes tune on Flamengo after Bayern’s 4-2 Club World Cup win | OneFootball

Manuel Neuer has softened his post-match stance on Flamengo, saying the Brazilians posed real problems in Bayern Munich’s 4-2 Club World Cup round of 16 win in the United States.

"It was not an easy task. I think they are a strong team. And yes, it was very difficult to play against them," he said in an interview with TNT Sports.

Bayern went 2-0 up before Gerson reduced the deficit. The Germans restored a two-goal cushion before the break to lead 3-1. After the interval, Flamengo pressed and Jorginho scored from the spot for 3-2, before Bayern added a fourth to settle it.

Despite those compliments, Neuer had told a Peruvian journalist straight after the match that it had been easy, even gesturing the scoreline with his hands.

Flamengo face Independiente Medellín on Thursday 16 April in the Libertadores second round, kick-off 21:30 Brasília time at the Maracanã.
