New date set for Levante v Athletic after rain postponement | OneFootball

Athletic said in a post that the matchday 6 fixture at Levante will be played on Wednesday 21 October at 20:00 at Ciutat de València.

The new kick-off is one hour earlier than the original slot, and was agreed within just over twelve hours of the postponement.

An international window after this weekend ruled out playing sooner, with Athletic set to lose at least three senior internationals, Nico, Simón and Laporte.

The calendar also left no room, with Athletic at Rayo on 10 October, while Levante face Sevilla on Monday 12 then Deportivo in Coruña on the Friday.

Athletic then visit Mestalla on 17 October at 21:00 before returning to the city four days later.

The original match was called off at 21:22, eight minutes before kick-off, after a downpour from 20:30 left the pitch waterlogged.

Warm-ups began at 21:00 but the ball would barely roll as standing water covered large areas, and strong winds created safety concerns.

Plastic chairs were even blown from the touchline towards the centre circle, underlining the severity of the conditions.
