Newcastle United have turned down a second formal offer worth £15 million from Nottingham Forest for versatile winger Jacob Murphy, according to the Daily Mail.

Forest’s initial £10m bid was rejected over the weekend, but manager Oliver Glasner is still keen to bolster his squad with Premier League experience.

The Tricky Trees made an improved proposal, which Newcastle have knocked back.

Despite Murphy now being in the final year of his contract at St James’ Park, Newcastle do not want to lose him so late in the window.

The 31-year-old has gained extensive Premier League experience with Newcaslte, proving a reliable contributor for nearly a decade.

While his contract situation presents a financial dilemma for Newcastle, they are nwilling to sanction his exit.

Selling a versatile player without an immediate replacement would leave Newcastle short on wing-back cover, especially after Kieran Trippier’s exit and with Tino Livramento still recovering from injury.

With the transfer deadline approaching, talks between the two clubs remain at an impasse following Newcastle’s firm rejection.

Unless there is a dramatic late change, Murphy is set to remain a squad player for the 2026/27 season.
