In the last two seasons, Newcastle United have established themselves as a strong contender in English football. They have made it to European competitions and have also given tough competition to many big teams in the Premier League.
Under the coaching of Eddie Howe, the team have gained strength on the basis of young players and smart signings. However, in the last few months, concerns have been growing about the striker position. Callum Wilson has been struggling with injuries, and questions are now being raised about Alexander Isak’s future with the club.
So, Newcastle United are now standing at a point where they have to solve the striker problem before the new season. The club know that relying on only one option would be risky. Names like Benjamin Sesko remain a priority, but there are options ready as well. The club’s strategy prove that they are serious about bringing a new name forward this summer.

According to Ben Jacobs‘ report, Newcastle United have targeted Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson. The club are looking at the Senegal player as an alternative to Benjamin Sesko. The report states that initial talks have taken place between Chelsea and Newcastle United. The talks have not been limited to interest, but discussions have also taken place at the club-to-club level.
Talking about his qualities, Jackson’s pace, movement and understanding inside the box can trouble any defense. He created some important chances and scored goals at Chelsea last season. The Senegal player’s style is quite different from Alexander Isak’s, which makes him a different dynamic option. The club believe that if the Sesko deal fails, they can make a move for the Chelsea striker quickly.
Isak’s situation is not completely clear now. If he does push for Liverpool, Newcastle United will have very little time to bring in a reliable striker. Jackson seems like a good option. However, his consistency in the Premier League has been questionable so far. The Chelsea striker has shown some brilliance in some matches, but it is not clear whether he will be able to play the role of a lead striker over a long season.
Jackson can fit into Eddie Howe’s system, but he will have to prove himself there. His age and hunger to shine make him a good profile for the Magpies’ project. Newcastle United need a player like this who is not only an option but can also provide leadership in the front line.
In our opinion, if Jackson is being seen as a replacement for Isak, then it may be a bit risky. However, if he is brought in for squad depth and tactical variety, then he can prove to be a great signing. Newcastle United will have to finalise this transfer very carefully.
