Serie A side Como have qualified for the Champions League for the first time in their history and this can now help them keep hold of Nico Paz for another season.

The Argentine has always appeared likely to return to Real Madrid, who have a buyback option and it can be exercised this year or even in 2027.

Gianluca Di Marzio details the player’s intentions, noting that he is currently quite keen on staying at Como for another campaign. The lakeside club are also quite interested in keeping him beyond the summer, especially since they have sealed a spot in the Champions League.

Los Blancos haven’t made an official decision on the attacking midfielder yet. Jose Mourinho would be interested in having Nico Paz back but the player himself hasn’t offered a definitive answer to the Spanish giants. He is hoping that his move back to Real Madrid can wait for another season and the upcoming presidential elections can dictate that.

Both Como and Real Madrid are currently at the opposite sides of the coin, when it comes to stability. Cesc Fabregas’ side boast the certainty and tactical identity which many clubs would be jealous of.

This would only help Nico Paz, who doesn’t quite have an obvious position at Real Madrid. He does at the Italian club, where he will only benefit from playing in the Champions League. This will only raise his profile and allow him a better chance to impress and then make a major decision over his future.
