Norwich City are monitoring Daniel Job as they look to bolster their left wing

Norwich City are monitoring the situation of Nigerian wideman Daniel Job, who has been the subject of a rejected bid from Serie A side US Lecce.

The Canaries are, rather unfortunately, having to target a new left-winger this summer, following the ACL injury suffered by Canadian international Ali Ahmed in pre-season, which is expected to see him sidelined for the whole campaign.

Norwich head coach Philippe Clement spoke in early July about how he wasn't expecting many more additions and, in an ideal world, the arrival of left-back Darlin Yongwa would have been all the remaining business that they needed to do, putting them in an enviable position ahead of the Championship curtain-raiser on Saturday.

But now, a new wideman is needed, and one who can fill the shoes of Ahmed, who registered seven goal contributions in 19 league games after arriving in January from Vancouver Whitecaps.

According to Sacha Tavolieri, Norwich are one of the many sides registering an interest in 20-year-old Daniel Job, who is in the midst of a breakout campaign in the Norwegian second division with Kongsvinger.

Job has registered seven goals and six assists in just 16 league outings thus far, as Johan Vennberg's side sit third in 1. Division. He has failed to register a goal involvement in just four of those 16 games.

The 20-year-old has only been with Kongsvinger for less than a year, signing from Norwegian top-flight side Sarpsborg ahead of the 2026 campaign. There, he made 23 Eliteserien appearances, scoring just twice.

Norwich aren't alone in their interest, with RB Salzburg, FC Basel and Swedish outfit AIK also monitoring Job's progress, while Serie A side Lecce have had a €2.5 million plus €500,000 in add-ons offer rejected from Kongsvinger.

Tavolieri states that the Norwegian side are holding out for €4 million plus add-ons if they are to part ways with their star winger this summer.

When you sieve through the "does the Job" comments online, there are some Norwich supporters who do like the look of the 20-year-old.

That being said, while various highlight reels look promising, they are being taken with a pinch of salt, as the second tier in England is of a better quality than the Norwegian second tier.

"Yes, very cheap and very good. Just watched highlights on YouTube and looked very sharp and was looking to go forward every time he got the ball; end product good. Bring him in right now!" one Canaries fan said on X.

One fan was quick to remind him of the quality gap in divisions, comparing the defensive levels to that of non-league teams in some places, but did follow that up by stating, "If big Phil wants him, then yes."

Arguably, the most telling comment on X from a Norwich fan read, "Unsurprisingly, never heard of him," and ultimately, that can describe a lot of the recent incomings who have impressed at Carrow Road.

Norwich have excelled in the foreign market recently, with the likes of Mo Toure, Pelle Mattson, Jose Cordoba and Oscar Schwartau coming to the club in the last couple of years from clubs outside the traditional top five European leagues.

Granted, there have been a few duds, too. It's still early days, but Ante Crnac and Matej Jurasek haven't done much in the two years they've been at Carrow Road, and Mathias Kvistgaarden didn't have the most productive debut season last term.

Canaries fans will hope that, if their interest in Job progresses past just monitoring the situation, he'll become the latest player to arrive with little pedigree to make a name for themselves in Philippe Clement's side.
