Andre Onana isn’t the only Manchester United player who’s being linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, as his teammate Harry Maguire is also receiving calls from the Middle East.
Both players have started their campaign on the bench. However, their statuses in Ruben Amorim’s plans are vastly different. While the goalkeeper’s rapport with the manager is seemingly broken, the defender still has an important role to play in the team, as evidenced by his two cameo appearances in the Premier League.
Moreover, Maguire admitted that Amorim was the one to convince him to take his one-year option to extend his contract in January. But while the 32-year-old had been planning to linger at Carrington for another campaign, his resolve has reportedly been tested.
According to The Sun, two Saudi Pro League clubs have contacted the Sheffield native, offering him lucrative deals.
However, the source insists that Maguire politely turned down these proposals as he intends to see out his contract with Man Utd, while remaining open to prolonging his stint at Old Trafford if the club still wishes to keep him.

Nevertheless, the defender would be willing to listen to offers from Saudi clubs by the end of the season when he could become a free agent. This would be the case if United opt against offering him a new deal.
This isn’t the first time that sees Maguire linked with a move to Arab clubs, but even with the Saudi transfer market remaining open until September 23, the move is unlikely to materialise amidst the current circumstances.
On the other hand, these clubs might find more success in their pursuit of Onana fallen completely out of favour with Amorim following Senne Lammens’ arrival, and might be seeking an escape rope, or even Altay Bayindir, as United’s goalkeeping department has suddenly become overpacked.
