A swap deal involving Mario Gila and Lorenzo Lucca could be brewing, as both Napoli and Lazio are open to the idea.

Lazio Set Mario Gila Asking Price

The Spanish defender is widely expected to leave the club this summer, as his contract will expire next year. Despite his short contract, the Biancocelesti have set their asking price at €25-30 million, given that they must share the spoils with the player’s former club, Real Madrid, which has a 50% sell-on fee.

Napoli Willing to Offer Lorenzo Lucca in Exchange for Gila

In recent days, it has been reported that Napoli will try to lower their costs by offering players in exchange. According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Lucca remains the most plausible option, as the Partenopei are determined to keep Rafa Marin, while Sam Beukema has no intention of leaving the Stadio Maradona one year after making the €33 million transfer from Bologna.

Lucca Has Struggled at Napoli & Nottingham Forest

Lucca is a giant striker, standing at 201 cm, who first broke into the scene at Pisa. After a successful experience at Udinese between 2023 and 2025, Napoli spent €35 million to secure his services last summer, but he was relegated to the bench following Rasmus Hojlund’s arrival.

The Italian international then joined Nottingham Forest on loan in January, but endured a forgettable stint in England. All in all, Lucca only scored three goals in 32 appearances last season.

Why Lazio Are Interested in Lucca

Despite his miserable campaign, the Moncalieri native still has admirers in the Italian peninsula, including Genoa, who have enquired about his services. Nevertheless, Lazio have the upper hand thanks to their open dialogue with Napoli over Gila.

Gennaro Gattuso has requested the signing of a new centre-forward, considering it a top priority. The new Lazio head coach doesn’t see Tijjani Noslin as a pure striker, while Boulaye Dia has struggled in this role last season, and Petar Ratkov has yet to adjust to Italian football after his January move from RB Salzburg.
