AS Monaco have confirmed that Takumi Minamino (30) has suffered an ACL injury. The injury was sustained during Sunday’s Coupe de France win over AJ Auxerre (2-1).

Minamino sustained the injury during the first half during a collision that earned the Japan international a yellow card. He left the field on the stretcher and post-match, Sébastien Pocognoli revealed that the forward had travelled straight to the hospital for tests on the injury. 

The Monaco manager expressed concern about Minamino, which has now proven to be well-founded. Monaco confirmed in a press release on Monday that the Japan international has suffered an ACL injury to his left knee.

It is a blow for the Principality club and for Minamino, with the FIFA World Cup just over six months away. This season, he has played 21 times for Les Monégasques. In that time, he has scored four goals and registered three assists.
