Grégory Lorenzi, heavily linked with OGC Nice and Olympique de Marseille, will leave Stade Brestois, the club have announced.
The sporting director has been at Brest for 10 years. Having helped guide the club back into Ligue 1 back in 2019, they competed in the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history in the 2024/25 campaign, despite working on a shoestring budget.
However, the Corsican has been heavily linked with an exit this summer. Whilst his destination is not yet known, he will indeed leave the club, with Brest officialising his departure on Friday. President Denis Le Saint spoke of “great emotion” when confirming that Lorenzi would leave at the end of the season.
The sporting director has been linked with Premier League clubs Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest, however, he is expected to remain in Ligue 1 and move closer to his native Corsica. As per Nice-Matin, there is an agreement in principle with Nice, although the club must first guarantee their top-flight status. Marseille, also in the market for a sporting director, have pushed for Lorenzi’s arrival in recent weeks.
