La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Monday announced that defensive star Ferland Mendy has undergone a successful surgical procedure.
This comes after the Frenchman was condemned to a fresh spell on the sidelines earlier this month.
After limping out of Real Madrid’s La Liga victory over Espanyol, Mendy was confirmed to have picked up ‘a tendon injury in the rectus femoris of his right leg’.
Ensuing reports suggested that the injury was an altogether serious one, which could keep the former Lyon man out of action for up to a year.
This, it would now appear, however, will not be the case.
As per a statement across Real Madrid’s website and social media platforms:
‘Our player Ferland Mendy underwent successful surgery today, under the supervision of the Real Madrid Medical Services, for an injury to the rectus femoris muscle of his right leg.’
And according to Blancos insider Jorge C Picon, Mendy will in turn be sidelined for a spell of around five months.
