Bologna have confirmed the appointment of Domenico Tedesco as their new head coach, with the Italian-born German coach signing a contract until June 2028 with an option to extend for a further year.
The club confirmed on Tuesday that Tedesco will succeed Vincenzo Italiano, who guided the club to Coppa Italia glory in 2024/2025 before departing following contract talks that ultimately failed to result in a continuation.
Tedesco arrives with considerable experience across multiple European leagues and brings a proven track record at the highest level.

Born in Rossano, Calabria, Tedesco began his coaching journey in the youth academies of VfB Stuttgart and Hoffenheim before making the step into senior management.
He led Erzgebirge Aue before taking charge of Schalke 04, where he guided the club to a second-place Bundesliga finish and a Champions League round of 16 appearance.
Further spells at Spartak Moscow, RB Leipzig, the Belgium national team and Fenerbahce followed, during which time he added two trophies to his CV, the DFL Pokal with Leipzig in 2021/22 and the Turkish Super Cup with Fenerbahce last year.
His appointment gives Bologna a coach familiar with managing expectations and building competitive squads, qualities that will be tested immediately as he seeks to improve upon Italiano’s work.
