Nottingham Forest are set to appoint Oliver Glasner as their new manager, with Vitor Pereira expected to leave the City Ground despite only taking charge midway through last season.

Discussions over Pereira’s future are ongoing, but he is increasingly likely to depart after guiding Forest to Premier League safety.

The move would allow Glasner to return to management just weeks after leaving Crystal Palace following the expiry of his contract.

The Austrian enjoyed a hugely successful spell at Palace, winning the FA Cup and the Europa Conference League before deciding against extending his stay in London.

His achievements made him one of the most sought-after managers on the market this summer.

Glasner was linked with several high-profile vacancies before Forest moved quickly to make him their preferred candidate.

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is determined to push the club forward after another turbulent campaign.

Although Pereira secured Premier League survival after replacing Sean Dyche in February, disappointment over Forest’s European campaign has influenced the club’s thinking.

They were regarded as genuine contenders to win the Europa League but their run ended in the semi-finals against eventual winners Aston Villa.

That setback came despite significant investment in the squad over the past 12 months.

Glasner will become Forest’s fourth permanent manager since Nuno Espirito Santo left the club last September.

Ange Postecoglou also had a brief spell in charge before Pereira arrived on an 18-month contract.

The constant managerial changes underline the ambitious approach adopted by Marinakis, who has repeatedly shown a willingness to make bold decisions in pursuit of success.

Glasner arrives with an impressive reputation, having established himself as one of Europe’s most respected coaches.

His work at Palace transformed the club into genuine trophy contenders while delivering the first major honours in their history.

The Austrian is recognised for his organised tactical approach, high-intensity football and ability to improve players individually.

Those qualities helped Palace compete consistently against stronger opposition during his time in charge.

Forest will hope Glasner can now provide greater stability while helping the club build on their Premier League status.

The squad already contains considerable talent, and the expectation is that further additions will arrive during the summer transfer window.
