The defending world champions continue their quest for another title against one of the tournament's surprise packages.

Argentina booked their place in the Round of 16 after a dramatic 3-2 extra-time victory over Cabo Verde. Lionel Scaloni's side were pushed all the way but once again found a way through, with Lionel Messi continuing to lead from the front as Argentina chase back-to-back World Cup triumphs.

Egypt produced one of their finest World Cup moments by defeating Australia on penalties after a hard-fought 1-1 draw. Organised defensively and dangerous on the counter through Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush, the Pharaohs have already shown they are capable of frustrating higher-ranked opposition. 

Argentina remain favourites for this though and should make it through.

Switzerland v Colombia

Two evenly matched sides meet in what could be the tightest contest of the Round of 16.

Switzerland secured their place in the knockout stage with a professional 2-0 victory over Algeria. Murat Yakin's side have once again demonstrated the qualities that have made them one of international football's most consistent tournament teams, combining defensive organisation with clinical finishing when chances arise.

Colombia edged past Ghana 1-0 to continue an impressive campaign. Néstor Lorenzo's side have looked disciplined throughout the tournament and possess the attacking quality to punish mistakes, while remaining difficult to break down themselves. 

This is going to be a fascinating tactical battle that could well go all the way to extra time and penalties.
