Corinthians president Osmar Stabile has decided not to sign the sale of André to Milan for 17 million euros, about R$ 103 million, a move that could have legal repercussions.

According to Globo.com, the climbdown comes a day after the agreement was revealed and treated as close to done by the player’s camp and advanced by the club.

Stabile took the decision on Sunday, judging André to be worth more. A meeting on Monday is set for him to confirm he will not accept the offer on current terms.

After Saturday’s Paulista semi-final exit, head coach Dorival Júnior criticised the prospective sale, arguing the 19-year-old should deliver sporting value before being cashed in.

Fan backlash prompted football executive Marcelo Paz to speak after the press conference, stressing the deal was not sealed and depended on Stabile, while noting Corinthians need to sell.

Milan’s offer covers 70% of André’s rights owned by Corinthians, with 15 million euros guaranteed plus 2 million in bonuses linked to 20 appearances of at least 45 minutes before the World Cup break.

Corinthians would retain 20% of any profit on a future sale. André would give up proceeds tied to the remaining 30%. He would sign a five-year deal and only move mid-year because Europe’s transfer window is shut.

The player’s camp maintains the agreement is binding after draft exchanges and signatures by almost all parties bar the president, and believes Milan could go to FIFA over a unilateral breach. Corinthians say only the president’s signature concludes a transfer and are not worried about legal fallout.
