Facing St. Pölten

A final, a record crowd, and memories that will likely last forever. Just yesterday, we experienced the Austrian Women's Cup final – in which our team narrowly lost to FK Austria Vienna – a match that many of the girls will probably look back on as a career highlight. Dusan Pavlovic's team now faces an equally formidable opponent in the championship group 'return leg' against SKN St. Pölten. This final home match of the season takes place on Sunday at 14:00 CEST, and admission is free.

While our charges, in their debut season as FC Red Bull Salzburg Women, will likely establish themselves as a strong fourth force in the country, the Wolves are fighting to prevent a changing of the guard at the top. The perennial champions of the past decade are four points behind league leaders FK Austria Vienna. This means: If Austria win against Sturm Graz on Sunday, the title race would be decided with three rounds remaining, provided we can take a point! We naturally hope to have a better handle on the opponents than we did a week ago, when Sarah Mattner scored all three goals in St. Pölten's 3-0 victory in our first clash of the championship round.

Our first home encounter of the season provides motivation. We only succumbed to the Lower Austrians late in the game after taking an early lead, losing 1-2. The match will be broadcast on ÖFB TV and officiated by Fabienne Hofer.
