Palhinha has kept his counsel on his Bayern Munich future as speculation over a summer departure gathers pace. According to BuLi News, the Portuguese midfielder declined to engage with questions about links to a move away.

The 31-year-old remains under contract and is due back for the start of pre-season. A switch to Tottenham Hotspur reportedly collapsed, a Benfica return is not thought to be close, and he is said to have rejected a lucrative Saudi offer, with Aston Villa the latest club linked.

Approached by reporters at the airport while travelling back to Germany, he said he was returning to Bayern, described the situation as a saga, and stressed he is a Bayern player for now.

Pressed on Benfica, he declined to elaborate, adding that he expects to return to Portugal at some point but does not know if that will be now.

His future remains one of Bayern’s key summer stories, with suggestions the Bundesliga champions could consider offers if a suitable proposal arrives.
