Palmeiras are reshaping their leadership core as recent transfer windows have refreshed the squad. Gustavo Gómez remains captain and the primary voice in the dressing room.

According to Nosso Palestra, with senior figures moving on, responsibility is now shared by established names and recruits chosen for their command qualities.

Gómez, captain since 2020, is the most respected voice in the group. The Paraguayan centre-back blends experience, silverware and the competitive edge that has defined Abel Ferreira's side.

Goalkeeper Marcelo Lomba, despite limited minutes, plays an important part day to day. One of the most experienced players, he is viewed as a dressing-room reference, notably in supporting younger team-mates.

Among the starters, Piquerez and Murilo have grown into natural leaders. In their most mature spells at the club, they couple major honours with responsibility in training and on matchdays.

Signed for 2026, Marlon Freitas arrived with that reputation. Beyond technical quality, the midfielder is seen as vocal, personable and able to organise the team on the pitch, traits that influenced his signing.

Fellow arrival Alexander Barboza has echoed that profile. In his presentation he underlined leadership as part of his personality, adding that he likes to guide team-mates during games and assume responsibility when required.

The shift is gradual, yet it points to Palmeiras working to sustain a winning culture while renewing the squad.
