Nantes have turned to former back-up Patrik Carlgren after number two Alexis Mirbach suffered a knee injury. Ouest-France reports that the 34-year-old Swedish free agent is close to agreeing a one-year return.
Carlgren is poised to rejoin the Canaris having left at the end of his contract last season, when he served as understudy to Anthony Lopes.
Over the summer, Nantes installed Maxime Dupé as first choice, while out-of-contract Lopes moved to Angers on a three-year deal with an optional extra year.
Mirbach was injured last week and is expected to be sidelined for around three months, leaving the club short in goal.
Several alternatives were considered before Carlgren’s name returned to the top of the shortlist, with a one-season agreement now understood to be close.
