Peixoto contacts Trippier to reassure him over Wolves role | OneFootball

Cesar Peixoto has phoned Kieran Trippier to reassure him he remains central to his plans at Wolves.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Trippier became the first signing earlier this month, days before Rob Edwards was sacked and Peixoto appointed. Edwards had driven the move and his sudden exit sparked talk the 35-year-old might rethink.

A U-turn was considered unlikely, and Peixoto is understood to have outlined his approach to ease any doubts. Trippier will report to Compton Park with the squad when pre-season begins early next month.

The right-back posted training images from Mallorca on Thursday. He is expected to be a key figure in the push for a swift Premier League return after relegation.

Peixoto, 46, is awaiting a work permit but has already briefed senior players. He sees pre-season as crucial, though Wolves are likely to return later than many Championship rivals after finishing in late May. He met Jackson in Portugal to discuss transfer strategy, and some exits may not be settled until after the World Cup.

Wolves could net a windfall if former winger Chiquinho moves this summer. He has been linked with Sporting Lisbon after a resurgence at Alverca, and Wolves retained a 50 per cent sell-on in last year’s deal. Alverca are believed to want around £8 million.
