Noah Atubolu is set to be included among the goalkeepers in Jürgen Klopp’s first Germany squad, which is due to be announced tomorrow.
The 24-year-old began his Eintracht Frankfurt career poorly, then saved his sixth successive penalty in the club’s first win of the season against Mainz 05. Bild reports that Jonathan Burkardt and Younes Ebnoutalib are also in line for selection, with Ebnoutalib poised for a first call-up and Burkardt still awaiting his first senior goal.
Atubolu was drafted in by Julian Nagelsmann last year when Oliver Baumann withdrew through illness, although he is yet to make his senior debut. Baumann is expected to miss out entirely this time, despite serving as number one throughout the World Cup qualifiers.
The former Freiburg goalkeeper is three games short of his 100th Bundesliga appearance. He featured 22 times for the U21s under Antonio Di Salvo.
Germany are scheduled to play four matches in the space of 10 days during an extended international window.
