The Athletic reports that Pep Guardiola is expected to leave Manchester City at the end of the season, with Enzo Maresca considered a possible successor.

After 10 seasons in charge, this could mark a historic turning point for City. Guardiola, 55, arrived in 2016.

This season City have added the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup. A 1-0 win over Chelsea at the weekend gave Guardiola his 20th major trophy with the club. He also has six Premier League titles and a Champions League in 2023.

Although he is under contract until June 2027, his future had appeared uncertain in recent weeks. Maresca, 46, has been repeatedly linked as a candidate.

The Italian knows City well, having coached the youth sides before joining Guardiola’s staff as assistant. He later managed Leicester and then Chelsea. Following his spell at Chelsea, which ended in January, he is out of work and is said to have held talks with the club’s hierarchy over a potential return.
