Real Madrid have set presidential elections for seven June, the club confirmed on Tuesday, with incumbent Florentino Perez to face businessman Enrique Riquelme.
The electoral commission approved the date on Tuesday. The ballot will be held at Ciudad Real Madrid in Valdebebas on the edge of the Spanish capital, with around 100,000 members also able to vote by post.
Perez, aged 79, first served from 2000 to 2006, then returned in 2009. He has since been re-elected unopposed four times, most recently in January 2025, and despite a four-year mandate he has called early polls after a second straight trophyless season.
Riquelme, 37, is a renewables entrepreneur who founded Cox Energy in 2014.
His candidacy gives members a presidential vote for the first time in 20 years. It also delays the likely arrival of José Mourinho in the dugout, a deal put together but dependent on the election result.
