Phil Neumann has issued his stance on a potential move away from St. Andrew's

Birmingham City centre-back Phil Neumann has issued his stance on a potential move to Hull City from St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park between now and September 1st.

The German defender was recruited on a pre-contract agreement from Hannover 96, officially making his Blues debut on the opening day of last season, before continuing to be a mainstay at the heart of Chris Davies' backline in the Championship.

And, despite further defensive reinforcements being signed this summer window by the 41-year-old, Neumann started alongside club captain, Christoph Klarer, on Saturday afternoon as Birmingham played out a goalless draw against Sheffield United side at Bramall Lane.

Naturally, the picture could change between now and the transfer deadline of 11PM on Tuesday, September 1st. However, Neumann will have certainly reassured supporters in the Second City with his comments post-match.

Despite only moving to Birmingham last summer, Neumann was the subject of interest back in January from sides such as Sassuolo, although a deal would never materialise.

And, even after the addition of Dael Fry on a free transfer to beef up Davies' rearguard, exit talk involving the 6"4 figure hasn't dissipated this transfer window.

It was initially claimed that, following their promotion to the Premier League through the Championship play-offs, Hull had 'shown interest' in Neumann after featuring on Sergej Jakirovic's transfer shortlist.

However, following the sale of Nico Elvedi to Leeds United, it was reported on Friday that Bundesliga side, Borussia Mönchengladbach, had done the same ahead of a 2-1 win against Blues' bitter rivals, Aston Villa, in a pre-season friendly.

Despite making 190 appearances in the 2.Bundesliga before moving to the Championship with Birmingham, Neumann has never played top-flight football in his career.

However, even though a move to one of the aforementioned sides could appeal to many players, Neumann revealed that talk of an exit hasn't even crossed his mind after featuring alongside Klarer for the bulk of pre-season matches, and then again in the EFL Cup win over Swansea City and in Saturday's draw against the Blades.

“It’s not on me, my agent is getting these calls but I don’t care," Neumann said via Birmingham Live.

“My focus is on Birmingham and to do good in the season. That’s what we did in the last two games and now we want to get our first league win next week in a home game.”

It remains to be seen if Eugen Polanski presses forward to bring Neumann to BORUSSIA-PARK in the final two weeks of the window, but the chances of a move to the MKM Stadium may have decreased in recent days.

Indeed, Hull have now made 11 signings ahead of their own season opener, which included beating Birmingham in the race to sign Joe Gelhardt from Leeds United.

A plethora of those have been in defence, including Nobel Mendy and Lucas Herrington from Rayo Vallecano and Columbus Crew, whilst Charlie Hughes, John Egan and Semi Ajayi have been retained from last season's Championship squad.

Neumann, himself, was solid rather than spectacular last season, and will hope to continue improving under Davies this term as Blues look to build towards promotion and end their own lengthy exile from the Premier League.
