Sunderland lost 4-2 to Liverpool in Nashville on Saturday night, yet Régis Le Bris could still take encouragement from the run-out.

Sunderland Echo reports that Le Bris again used 22 players across the two halves, and a more experienced XI drew the first period 1-1.

After the interval Liverpool took charge against a youthful Sunderland side, with Timur Tutierov on the scoresheet among the positives.

Goalkeeper Melker Ellborg was rated six. He had little chance with either finish, was assured under pressure and made a smart save before going off around the midpoint of the second half.

Nordi Mukiele earned six, making purposeful runs without end product and defending solidly.

Dan Ballard stood out with seven on his return, booked for a challenge on Rio Ngumoha but stepping out well and handling his defensive work calmly.

Luke O'Nien received six, tidy in possession and making a fine late block when called upon.
