Pierrick Capelle will retire at the end of the 2025-2026 season, bringing his Angers career to a close.
The player said in a video posted by Angers on Tuesday that it was time to say goodbye. He added he leaves feeling he has fulfilled his duty to carry the SCO colours.
Signed in 2015, the 39-year-old midfielder has made 322 appearances, scoring 24 goals and providing 18 assists. He ranks eighth on the club’s all-time appearance list.
Capelle is the club captain, although he has featured only 14 times in Ligue 1 this season. He also serves as a municipal councillor in Saint-Léger-de-Linières, Maine-et-Loire.
He has two matches left, at Raymond-Kopa against Strasbourg on Sunday at 21:00, then away to Brest on 17 May at 21:00.
Before Angers, he played for Quevilly-Rouen and Clermont.
