Platense end Corinthians’ home streak with 2-0 Libertadores win | OneFootball

Corinthians lost 2-0 to Platense in the Libertadores on Wednesday, ending a seven-match unbeaten home run at Neo Química Arena and marking their first defeat in this year’s competition.

The side had not been beaten in Itaquera since Fernando Diniz took charge in early April, putting together six straight wins and one draw at the Casa do Povo. That run spanned more than 40 days without a home loss.

Their previous setback was on 5 April against Internacional, a result that led to the dismissal of Dorival Júnior. Under Diniz, the sequence covered four Brasileirão matches, two in the Libertadores and one in the Copa do Brasil.

Meu Timao notes that attention now turns to Corinthians’ final assignment before the World Cup break. They visit Arena do Grêmio on Saturday at 17:30 in the 18th round of the Brasileirão.

A victory could be important for the Timão to reach the pause clear of the relegation zone.
